2007 Federal Election
During the 2007 Federal Election, Friends of the ABC Victoria sent a survey to a number of Federal Election candidates on behalf of other FABCs including Friends of the ABC Tasmania. Although the questionnaire was sent to individual candidates, responses were given by parties including:
Responses were also received by The Democrats and Nick Xenephon (independent Senate candidate in South Australia) but we have not included these because Tasmanian electors did not have the option of voting for these candidates. Family First candidates were sent the survey but failed to respond.
Although he was not specifically approached, independent Senate candidate Dino Ottavi sent us a statement about his position on the ABC. From the information received Friends of the ABC prepared a website with information for voters.

Lost Without My ABC
Friends of the ABC Tasmania has been placing advertisements in various local publications to promote the importance of having an independent broadcaster and to encourage people to become members.

Friends of the ABC is not a national organisation. There are six state based organisations and one in the ACT.
